NOTES:
To prepare my strike water, I boiled 4 gallons of water for about 3 minutes.
I let this cool to 180 degrees and then added it to my empty mash tun.
Next, I let that cool to about 165 degrees and added my 10 1/2 lbs. of grain. I let that mash for one hour.
I sparged that water and it rendered two gallons–not much, as I need about 7.5 gallons for the boiling pot!
So, I mashed a second time with 6 gallons of 170 degree water. I let that mash for about 30 – 45 minutes.
I ran that off and added it to the other run-off and it totaled about 7.5 gallons perfectly.
Boiled for 75 minutes. Made 5.5 gallons. OG: 1.042. Not sure why my OG was that low.–but the aroma was awesome!
Allowed to sit in primary fermentation for three weeks. Tasted awesome!
